It is with great sadness and regret that I have to inform you all our very popular Shipmate and dear friend Peter Francis pass over the bar this morning.
Peter & Betty Francis have been stalwart members of the Hong Kong Flotilla Association since our founding in 1999. He with Betty attended the first Reunion at the China Fleet Club in Saltash. As a Leading Writer in Hong Kong he was responsible for the pay accounts for the Hong Kong Flotilla.
He was a member of the Committee of the HKFA for many years.
He has been a passionate walker/rambler and was walking five miles a day until earlier this year when he was hospitalized for some weeks.
Betty suffered a fall earlier last year which was very serious and they had a very challenging year.However they were well enough to make it to this year's Reunion.
Peter & Betty's eldest son Christopher Francis rang me this evening and asked that I should inform you all. Christopher lived for some years in Longwell Green close to our home at Hanham, and he taught my grandchild Sophie Wilson at Oldfield Girls School Bath for some time before moving to Malmesbury.
Christopher has promised to let us know details of when the Funeral is.
Apparently Peter suffered a collapse this morning and Betty's attempts to revive him were unsuccessful as were other efforts.
I took the opportunity to pass our condolences as an Association to Christopher, and our love to the very close friends that Peter & Betty were to us all.
